Assassin’s Creed Shadows Leaked Online Before Release

Ubisoft’s highly anticipated game, Assassin’s Creed Shadows, has leaked online a month before its official release date. The leak was spotted on the GamingLeaksandRumours subreddit, where users shared images and gameplay from someone who claimed to have purchased the game from an online marketplace.

Additionally, deleted listings on a US auction site showed multiple copies of the game being sold for $100 each. Twitch streams featuring Assassin’s Creed Shadows have also appeared, although they are being removed.

Ubisoft had previously stated that preorders for the game were strong, despite its troubled development and promotional period. However, this leak may raise concerns about the company’s ability to deliver on its promises.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows was originally planned for November but has undergone several delays, with the release date now set for March 20, 2025. The game is a Japan-set entry in the series and marks the first full Assassin’s Creed game since 2020.

The leak comes amid controversy over the game’s promotional period, which included inaccuracies in its depiction of Japan and unauthorized use of a historical recreation group’s flag. A collectible figure maker has also removed an Assassin’s Creed Shadows statue from sale due to insensitive design concerns.

Ubisoft’s CEO, Yves Guillemot, had expressed confidence in the game’s development, citing positive early previews and a strong preorder track. However, with the leak now in circulation, it remains to be seen how Assassin’s Creed Shadows will perform on March 20, 2025.
