Assassin’s Creed Shadows Preorders Solid Despite Controversy

Ubisoft has reported that preorders for Assassin’s Creed Shadows are “tracking solidly” and on par with its previous best-selling entry, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. The game’s delay and subsequent postponement have been met with controversy, but the publisher believes the positive reviews and early sales indicate a strong finish.

According to Ubisoft CEO Frederick Duguet, preorders are encouraging, especially considering Assassin’s Creed Odyssey was the second most successful entry in the franchise history. While there is still time for sales to grow or falter, Duguet expressed optimism that Shadows will meet expectations.

Positive previews of the game have highlighted its immersive world, stunning graphics, and dual-protagonist gameplay. These features have resonated with reviewers, including PC Gamer’s Morgan Park, who spent six hours playing the game in January and praised its level of confidence and polish. Shadows’ ability to accommodate frame generation and upscaling has also been a selling point.

While the pre-release period is far from over, Ubisoft seems confident that Shadows will be a success. With a strong lineup of upcoming games and a proven track record, the publisher is eager to see how Shadows will perform in the market.
