AstraZeneca, a global biopharmaceutical company, has announced plans to build its largest facility in Virginia, as part of its $50 billion investment in the US by 2030. The new plant is expected to create hundreds of highly skilled jobs and strengthen the nation’s domestic supply chain.
The company already sells medicines in over 125 countries worldwide and is based in the UK. Gov. Glenn Youngkin has welcomed the project, stating it will “set the standard” for pharmaceutical manufacturing technology advancements.
While details on the plant’s location are yet to be confirmed, AstraZeneca’s investment is set to boost Virginia’s economy and further establish its reputation as a hub for biopharmaceutical research and development.
