Asus has unveiled its latest gaming tablet, the ROG Flow Z13, at CES 2025. This device is designed to provide a powerful and portable gaming experience, with several key upgrades over its predecessor. The most notable change is the switch to integrated graphics, powered by AMD’s new “Strix Halo” processor. This processor is paired with either the Ryzen AI Max 390 or 395, offering up to 16 CPU cores and 40 graphics cores.
The ROG Flow Z13 features a 13-inch touchscreen display with a high refresh rate of 180Hz, making it suitable for gaming and content creation. It also boasts several ports, including USB 4, USB-A 3.2 Gen 2, HDMI 2.1, and a microSD card slot. The device is equipped with Wi-Fi 7 and supports USB-C Power Delivery for charging.
Other notable features include a detachable keyboard with larger keycaps and a more spacious touchpad, as well as a new “ScreenXpert” button that provides quick access to settings and multitasking controls. The tablet’s battery life shows promise, with Asus claiming up to 10 hours of use, although the author was able to squeeze in an eight-hour workday without issues.
The ROG Flow Z13 performed well in gaming tests, particularly when plugged into a power source and running at Turbo mode. However, its integrated graphics capabilities are limited by the lack of Thunderbolt 5 support, which restricts its ability to utilize Asus’ new XG Mobile eGPU.
Despite this limitation, the ROG Flow Z13 has the potential to be an attractive option for those seeking a portable gaming solution. With its powerful processor and high-performance display, it may appeal to fans of dedicated handhelds like the Steam Deck. However, its release date in February will determine whether it can compete in a crowded market.
