Asus Zenfone 12 Ultra Launches Without US Availability

Asus has officially launched its latest flagship phone, the Zenfone 12 Ultra, but with an unexpected twist – it won’t be sold in the US. The phone is essentially a reworked ROG Phone 9 Pro model, featuring a big screen, high-end chipset, and unique gimbal-like stabilizer in its main camera.

The Zenfone 12 Ultra boasts a large 5,500mAh battery, supporting fast wired and wireless charging options. Its 6.78-inch screen offers variable refresh rates from 1 to 120Hz, albeit with a lower-than-expected 1080p resolution.

AI features are also prominent in the phone, including AI-driven noise removal, semantic search, voice memo transcription, and document summarization. The phone’s camera hardware remains largely unchanged from its predecessor, but software features include color grading adjustments reminiscent of iPhone Photographic Styles.

Asus has left the door open for future US availability by stating that not selling this model doesn’t rule out other Zenfone models being made available in the states. However, the exclusion of the small Zenfone lineup suggests it may be a dying breed. The phone starts at €1,099 (approximately $1,145).
