Atari Unveils Gamestation Go with Retro Twist

Atari, a retro game company, has unveiled its new handheld system called the Gamestation Go. The device features an unorthodox design, including a number pad similar to a computer keyboard, which is reminiscent of Atari’s 1970s keypad accessory for the Atari 2600.

The Gamestation Go shares similarities with Atari’s previously announced Gamestation Portable, which was set to launch in 2024. However, its true launch date remains uncertain, with Atari planning to reveal more information at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) next month.

The device is expected to be designed mostly for retro games, but could potentially allow players to download other applications, making it comparable to other handheld consoles like Valve’s Steam Deck and Asus’ ROG Ally line.

Atari’s decision to include a number pad on the Gamestation Go may seem unusual, but it’s possible that the company has bigger plans for the device. The launch of the Gamestation Go is expected to be significant in the expanding hardware space for handheld game consoles throughout the 2020s.

For now, Atari will share more details about its new handheld system at CES, which takes place on January 7, 2025.
