Atari Unveils Trackball-Loaded Handheld Console

Atari has announced a new handheld game console, the Gamestation Go, which features an unusual control scheme. The device is designed to appeal to retro gamers and those who prefer a more immersive gaming experience. Its unique layout includes a trackball, a numpad, and traditional D-pad on one side, while its opposite side boasts standard A B X Y buttons.

The console also includes physical buttons for start, select, settings, and credit, as well as shoulder buttons and a microSD card slot. Notably, most of the controls are backlit or outlined with light, making it easier to play in low-light conditions. The device also supports wired controllers via USB-C ports on its rear.

While details about bundled games and pricing remain unknown, Atari has hinted that the Gamestation Go could support a range of platforms, depending on internal hardware and emulation capabilities. The console’s price is likely to be similar to last year’s Gamestation Portable variant, which launched for $149. With CES just around the corner, fans can expect further information about this intriguing new console by January 7.
