AT&T customers affected by two data breaches last year could receive thousands of dollars in payouts as part of a $177 million settlement. The breaches, announced in March and July 2023, impacted 73 million current and former customers. Social Security numbers and telephone numbers of nearly all cellular customers were found on the dark web.
Customers who suffered both breaches are eligible for up to $7,500. They will receive an email notice with instructions on how to file a claim. The deadline to submit a claim is November 18. However, the settlement still needs approval from the court and has not yet been finalized.
AT&T denies allegations of responsibility in the data breach, but the company has agreed to pay $177 million to settle claims. Affected customers can expect to receive payouts once the final approval hearing takes place in early December.
