AT&T Customers Eligible for Up to $7,500 in Breach Settlement

AT&T customers affected by two recent data breaches may be eligible for compensation under a proposed $177 million settlement. The breach in March 2024 exposed birth dates and Social Security numbers of 73 million current and former account holders, while the July 2024 breach involved hackers downloading records of nearly all AT&T’s cellular customers.

Multiple lawsuits have been consolidated into two class-action cases, with a federal judge ruling that a proposed settlement has been reached. The $149 million first settlement class will cover the March 2024 breach, and the $28 million second settlement class will address the July 2024 incident.

Eligible AT&T customers can file for compensation by submitting a claim form before November 18, 2025. Those affected by both breaches may be eligible for up to $7,500. To receive payment, customers must provide documentation showing that their losses are fairly traceable to the data breaches.

The settlement administration advises customers to wait until December at the earliest for payments to be processed, as court approval and potential appeals could delay the payout. Customers can check if they qualify by contacting Kroll Settlement Administration or reviewing the settlement website for more information.
