Aubrey Plaza has deleted her Instagram account one week after the passing of her husband, Jeff Baena, who died by suicide at age 47 according to medical examiner records. Baena was a filmmaker and had been in a 14-year relationship with Plaza, whom he married in 2020.
The actress’s decision to erase her social media presence comes as news broke about Baena’s death. A statement from Plaza’s representatives said, “This is an unimaginable tragedy. We are deeply grateful for the support and ask that we be respected during this time.”
In a recent interview, Plaza recalled how she and Baena got married in 2020, saying they had tied the knot just one hour after meeting on a website called Onehourmarriage.com. The couple had also faced criticism from fans who sent death threats to Baena on Instagram.
The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline is available for those struggling or in crisis; call 988 or chat at 988lifeline.org.
