Aubrey Plaza Shines at SNL 50th Anniversary Special

Aubrey Plaza made her highly anticipated public appearance on Saturday Night Live’s (SNL) 50th anniversary special, marking a poignant return to the show after the loss of her husband Jeff Baena. The actress and comedian walked the red carpet on February 16th, dressed in an all-black outfit that paid tribute to her late partner.

Plaza’s attire was eerily similar to what she and Baena wore for their wedding ceremony in December 2021. As revealed during a previous appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show, Plaza explained how they got married at the last minute and Baena made tie-dye pajamas for them during the quarantine.

Six weeks after Baena’s death by suicide at 47, Plaza surprised fans with her appearance on SNL. She was initially set to present at the Golden Globes but dropped out the day before to pay tribute to her late husband. A Ritz crackers Super Bowl commercial featuring Plaza aired earlier this month, also around the same time of Baena’s passing.

Plaza and Baena were married in 2021 after dating for over a decade and collaborated on several films together. In a statement following Baena’s death, their family expressed gratitude to those who offered support, asking for privacy during this difficult time.
