Auburn’s winning streak came to an end as they lost 84-78 to Duke in the ACC/SEC Challenge. The Tigers trailed early and couldn’t recover, despite a strong freshman performance from both teams.
The underclassmen led the game, with Cooper Flagg and Isaiah Evans combining for 39 of Duke’s points. For Auburn, Tahaad Pettiford led scorers with 20 points, including four threes.
Duke outworked Auburn in almost every aspect of the game, scoring 13 points off turnovers and forcing eight Auburn mistakes. The Blue Devils also dominated in the second half, using their bench to score 33 points.
Auburn’s Johni Broome struggled with foul trouble, finishing with 20 points and 12 rebounds. The Tigers will look to bounce back against Richmond at home before facing Ohio State in the Holiday Hoopsgiving.
