Auburn Holds On to No. 1 After Upset Losses

Auburn Tigers remain at the top of the Associated Press men’s basketball poll despite losing their first game in over two months. The team fell to Florida 90-81 at home, snapping a 14-game win streak that saw them briefly lose star Johni Broome.

Duke followed suit after Auburn’s loss, dropping two spots to tie with Florida at No. 3. Duke had entered the weekend on a 16-game win streak but was stunned by Clemson in their ACC game. The Blue Devils’ best remaining opponent is Illinois, which has been struggling this season.

Alabama moves up one spot to No. 2 after cruising to a 24-point win over Arkansas. However, the team still trails Auburn in the rankings. The Crimson Tide will face off against top-ranked Auburn on Saturday in a matchup between the two teams.

Tennessee rounds out the top five, while St. John’s and Arizona move up in the rankings after their wins last week. The SEC is looking strong this season, with several games to watch this week including No. 1 Auburn at No. 2 Alabama and No. 3 Florida at No. 22 Mississippi State.

Games to Watch This Week
– Tuesday: No. 5 Tennessee at No. 15 Kentucky
– Saturday: No. 16 Wisconsin at No. 7 Purdue, No. 6 Houston at No. 13 Arizona, and No. 1 Auburn at No. 2 Alabama
