Auburn Tigers’ Unforgettable Seasons Ranked Among Top 25

Auburn University’s college football team has experienced its fair share of highs and lows in recent years. Despite a challenging period for the program since the departure of former Head Coach Gus Malzahn, fans remain loyal to the team, cherishing memorable moments from their time in the program. Auburn Tigers’ 2004 and 2010 teams are among the most notable seasons in college football history.

Sports Illustrated’s Pat Forde recently released a list of the top-25 college football teams in the last 25 years, with two Auburn teams cracking the ranking. The 2004 team, led by Head Coach Tommy Tuberville, came in at No. 20 and boasts an impressive undefeated season of 13-0. Although they were denied a spot in the national title game due to the BCS system, their loss to USC and Oklahoma remains a topic of debate.

The 2010 National Championship team under Cam Newton took the top spot with an undefeated 14-0 season, where Newton won the Heisman Trophy and led his team to victory against Alabama despite being down by 24 points. Forde described this season as “absolutely a Cam Newton production,” highlighting Newton’s incredible individual performance, which included 50 touchdowns and over 4,300 yards of total offense.

These memorable seasons showcase Auburn’s rich history in college football, with fans continuing to celebrate their successes despite the challenges faced by the program.
