Austin Butler’s Body Transformations Take Dramatic Turns

Austin Butler has taken on several roles that require extreme physical transformations, pushing his body to the limits since his breakout role in Elvis. The actor, known for his dedication to method acting, has revealed the grueling processes he went through to get into character.

Butler started by eating ice cream to gain weight for his Elvis portrayal, consuming two dozen doughnuts daily. To prepare for his role as villain Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen in Dune: Part Two, he trained with a former Navy SEAL named Duffy Gaver, who emphasized the importance of weight gain through diet and exercise.

Butler’s next transformation involved playing American WWII pilot Gale “Buck” Cleven in the Apple TV+ miniseries Masters of the Air, where he worked with Captain Dale Dye to develop a dexterous physicality required for the role. For his upcoming movie Caught Stealing, Butler built a baseball butt by eating pizza and drinking beer, while also training with trainer Beth Lewis.

Butler has now toned down his physique to play killer in Enemies, a crime film opposite Jeremy Allen White. With six days of intense training per week and a balanced diet, the actor has achieved a leaner look. Despite this transformation, Butler’s dedication to method acting continues to take dramatic turns in his career.
