Australian Airline Crew Members Allegedly Raped and Robbed in Fiji

Two crew members of an Australian airline were allegedly raped and robbed in the Fijian city of Nadi on New Year’s Day. The incidents occurred outside a nightclub where the victims had been out celebrating.

According to reports, one woman was raped and a man was robbed after leaving Bar One nightclub in the early hours of Wednesday morning. The crew members, who were due to fly out of the city the following day, received support from their airline staff while they investigated the incidents.

Fiji’s deputy prime minister, Viliame Gavoka, expressed regret over the alleged incidents and said that a suspect was being questioned. He stated that the investigation is ongoing and that the victims are in good health.

The South Pacific island nation of Fiji welcomed 76,845 visitors in November, mostly from Australia, New Zealand, and North America. The Australian government has confirmed it is aware of the reports and is offering support to its citizens affected by the incidents.
