Australian Airline Crew Members Allegedly Raped and Robbed in Fiji

Two Virgin Australia crew members were allegedly attacked and assaulted during a New Year’s Day celebration in Fiji. The incident occurred at the Bar One nightclub in Nadi, where the crew had gone to celebrate their layover. According to police, the crew members were robbed and sexually assaulted after leaving the club.

The victims, a man and a woman, sustained injuries, with the man receiving facial injuries. Police are investigating the incident, which is ongoing. The airline has sent a support team to assist the crew members.

Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade is aware of the incident but cannot comment further due to privacy obligations. The crew members remain at their hotel until the investigation is complete.

The Flight Attendants’ Association of Australia expressed concern for the crew members, urging respect for their privacy as they await official assistance. The incident highlights the vulnerability of airline staff during layovers and could impact Fiji’s tourism industry, which has recently faced another scandal involving poisoning incidents.
