Disney has unveiled the first trailer for James Cameron’s highly anticipated third “Avatar” movie, titled “Avatar: Fire and Ash.” The film is set to hit theaters on December 19, 2025, three years after “The Way of Water.”
Cameron introduced a new group called the Ash People at the 2024 D23 Expo. This soot-covered tribe dances around a giant fire pit in the trailer, which hints at their fearsome nature and fiery abilities. The film promises to be an emotional journey with high stakes, as Jake Sully’s family and the Metkayina clan join forces to fight against Varang, a powerful leader who can control fire.
The Ash People are portrayed as more violent and power-hungry than the Metkayina, according to Cameron. The trailer also reveals that Varang has allied with Quaritch, adding to the conflict. New characters, including one “you’ll love or hate,” have been introduced, hinting at a thrilling adventure.
The original plan was for “Fire and Ash” to be a single film, but it was split into two after Cameron began writing. The return of popular cast members, including Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, and Kate Winslet, adds to the excitement. The trailer is now available to watch below.
