Avelo Airlines is expanding its international network by adding more flights to the Caribbean. The ultra-low-cost carrier plans to increase services in the region as part of its growing international presence.
Meanwhile, JetBlue Airways has announced plans to cut several domestic and trans-Atlantic routes. The airline stated that it aims to build the best East Coast leisure network and is focused on increasing frequencies on certain routes.
However, JetBlue also announced that it will be closing a station in San Jose, California, due to underperformance. Other routes set for reduction include flights from New York-JFK to Miami, Milwaukee, Houston, and Austin, as well as Westchester County, New York, to Charleston, South Carolina.
The airline will redeploy capacity in the coming weeks to maintain its network. JetBlue’s announcement comes after facing challenges, including issues with Pratt & Whitney engine troubles on its Airbus A321neo and A220 jets.
