His wife, Veronika Silchenko, shared his last known location and expected he might not have cell service. However, when Luhn failed to return home for a flight on Monday night, his family alerted the police. Rescue operations are underway but hindered by inclement weather. Luhn’s family is asking hikers who took the same route to share any information with local authorities. As a climate journalist, Luhn was fascinated by glaciers and their decline due to climate change.
