‘Back to the Future’ Guitar Search Heats Up as Michael J. Fox Plea Goes Out

Michael J. Fox is on a mission to find his iconic cherry red Gibson ES-345 guitar from the classic 1985 movie “Back to the Future.” The guitar, famously played by Marty McFly during the film’s pivotal “Enchantment Under the Sea” dance scene, has been missing since the late 1980s.

The search is part of a larger effort by Fox and Gibson guitars to locate the instrument. Fans who may have information about the guitar’s whereabouts can contact Gibson via its website or by calling/texting 1-855-345-1955.

Fox himself expressed his love for music, stating that the “Enchantment Under the Sea” scene was an expression of his love for guitar and great players like Jimi Hendrix. The search has significant implications, as it will coincide with the 40th anniversary of the movie’s release.

Gibson Films is producing a documentary titled “Lost to the Future,” which will not only chronicle the search but also explore the legacy and making of the film. Renowned guitar aficionado Mark Agnesi has been leading the hunt for years, stating that he’s excited to get the entire guitar community involved in finding the instrument.

The “Enchantment Under the Sea” scene remains one of the most iconic moments from the movie, with Marty McFly’s rendition of “Johnny B. Goode” becoming a defining moment in the film’s history.
