Baltimore Comedian Reggie Carroll Dies After Being Shot

Comedian Reginald “Reggie” Carroll, 52, has died after being shot in northern Mississippi, authorities confirmed. The Oscar-winning actor Mo’Nique called him a “brother” in comedy and praised his talent.

Carroll was found critically wounded on Burton Lane in Southaven, Mississippi, on August 20th. Despite emergency treatment at a Memphis hospital, he succumbed to his injuries. One man, Tranell Marquise Williams, 38, has been arrested in connection with Carroll’s killing and is being held on one count of murder.

Carroll gained popularity performing in comedy clubs across the US before his death. He had recently toured with fellow comedian Micah “Katt” Williams, a move that has sparked speculation about potential connections between their deaths.

The city of Baltimore and its comedy community are mourning Carroll’s loss, as he was an integral part of Mobtown Comedy. Mo’Nique expressed her fond memories of touring with him, saying they had “amazing times” together on the road.

Carroll appeared in several notable projects, including The Parkers sitcom, Showtime at the Apollo, and his 2023 standup special Knockout Kings of Comedy. Southaven police have released a statement expressing their condolences to Carroll’s loved ones and thanking the public for their patience during the ongoing investigation into his murder.
