Barcelona Edge Past Atletico to Face Real Madrid in Copa del Rey Final

Barcelona narrowly edged past Atletico Madrid on aggregate to set up a meeting with Real Madrid in the final of the Copa del Rey. This will be the eighth time the two clubs have met in the Spanish Cup final, with the match taking place on April 26 in Seville.

The decisive goal came from Ferran Torres in the first half, as he poked past Argentine goalkeeper Juan Musso after Lamine Yamal’s superb pass had split the home defense. Torres’ effort was a well-deserved win for Barcelona, who played more confidently than Atletico throughout the match.

Atletico’s 17-year-old star Yamal caused problems for Barcelona, but ultimately couldn’t prevent the visitors from claiming victory. The hosts did have chances, but were ruled offside or unable to capitalize on substitute Alexander Sorloth’s shots.

Barcelona remain unbeaten in 2025 and continue their pursuit of a quadruple. They lead La Liga by three points from Real Madrid and host Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League quarterfinals next month.

The Copa del Rey final will be a significant test for both clubs, coming just two weeks before their match in the Spanish top flight.
