The recent Battlefield 6 beta has been a welcome surprise in the gaming community, as it marked one of the first actual playtests for an unfinished game instead of a glorified demo. Unlike previous betas that felt more like demos to sell pre-orders, the BF6 beta has shown significant tweaks to core gameplay mechanics.
Battlefield Studios recently released a blog post discussing their learnings from the beta, which revealed meaningful changes to the core gameplay experience. These adjustments include tweaks to movement mechanics, such as reduced momentum on slide-jumps and decreased accuracy while using movement tools. The aim is to create a more balanced and traditional Battlefield experience.
Other significant changes include balance tweaks, such as nerfing the overpowered M87A1 shotgun, investigating the “super bullets” bug, and making changes to encourage controlled tap-firing and burst-firing. These adjustments directly address player concerns about weapon feel during the beta.
The biggest changes come from tweaking movement mechanics, which will make the game feel even better than it already did. These newly announced adjustments are planned to be put to the test in upcoming Battlefield Labs events, allowing for further feedback.
In contrast, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6’s beta has received less-than-stellar feedback, leaving the author somewhat skeptical about its future changes. The upcoming BF6 beta offers a refreshing change in approach, making it an exciting development in the gaming community.
