Electronic Arts (EA) and the team behind Battlefield 6 have outlined the key learnings and in-game changes following the open beta test. The results of the play sessions, which attracted tens of thousands of players, revealed several areas that needed improvement.
According to DICE, the movement mechanics were a major point of contention among players. To address this issue, they have reduced the speed of movement from a slide into a jump and introduced penalties for consecutive jumps. Firing while jumping or sliding has also been made less accurate. These changes aim to make sliding and jumping more situational and rewarding for skillful movement.
Parachute physics have also been re-tuned with reduced initial acceleration, allowing for more controlled aerial movement. The team acknowledges strong feedback on larger-scale maps, stating that these will be part of the game’s package, delivering action-packed gameplay and memorable moments.
In addition to map changes, DICE has also addressed feedback on modes. They have lowered the default player count for Rush mode from 64-128 players to 8v8, aiming to improve the flow of combat and restore a tactical experience. However, fans who enjoy larger-scale Rush will still be able to experiment with different player counts via the Portal.
The team is also introducing in-game adjustments in upcoming Battlefield Labs events, which will be shared as progress updates become available. DICE would like to thank players for joining the open beta and participating in the feedback process, which made it an incredible experience.
In other news, EA has announced a “wave of content” planned for Battlefield 2042, including a free new pass celebrating the legacy of Battlefield, new hardware, and a reimagining of the fan-favorite Iwo Jima map. This update will be part of the ‘Road to Battlefield 6’ pass, which offers exclusive cross-rewards, including 20 for Battlefield 6 that will be ready on launch day.
This change is expected to enhance the overall gaming experience, and fans are eagerly awaiting more information about upcoming updates and events in the series.
