Bayern Munich Struggle Without Jamal Musiala’s Creative Midfield Presence

Bayern Munich suffered another injury blow with 22-year-old attacking midfielder Jamal Musiala forced off in the second half of their 3-1 victory over Augsburg due to a hamstring injury. The injury is expected to keep him out for Tuesday’s Champions League quarter-final first leg against Inter.

Musiala has been a key player for Bayern this season, scoring 12 goals and providing eight assists across 40 appearances in all competitions. His absence will be deeply felt, particularly against Inter, who Bayern are already struggling to cope with defensive injuries.

The situation is further complicated by the fact that Bayern are already missing several key players, including Alphonso Davies, Hiroki Ito, Dayot Upamecano, and Aleksandar Pavlovic through injury or illness. Coach Vincent Kompany will need to find a solution to replace Musiala’s creative midfield presence, which is difficult to replicate.

Possible options include Thomas Muller playing behind Harry Kane, but Musiala’s role goes beyond just attacking midfielder. He often acts as both No 10 and No 8, making it challenging for Bayern to find a suitable replacement.

Bayern host Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga on Saturday before facing Inter again in the second leg of the Champions League tie on April 16. With no clear solution in sight, Bayern’s headache is only growing.
