Bayern Munich’s 0-0 draw against Bayer Leverkusen was a disappointing performance from the German giants. Despite keeping their title race safe, many in the squad expressed frustration with the team’s lack of creativity and attacking threat.
Goalkeeper Manuel Neuer saw the silver lining in the result, however, acknowledging that the team’s defensive effort was crucial in securing the point. “We’re happy with the result,” he said. “It was tough, we didn’t create many chances, Leverkusen pressed hard. It was difficult to build up our play and combine.”
Neuer attributed the team’s struggles to their training emphasis on box defending and sitting deeper against a well-played opponent. Bayern registered just one shot on target for the first time since 2004-05, highlighting the need for improvement in their attacking prowess.
While the point keeps Bayern’s title hopes safe, performances like this will not be sufficient for European success. The team now faces Celtic in the Champions League, where they must quickly rediscover their attacking edge to avoid being outplayed.
