Bears’ Coaching Staff Identifies Hidden Gems in Minicamp

Bears coach Ben Johnson has identified four under-the-radar players who have impressed him during offseason workouts and minicamp practices. These players include defensive end Dominique Robinson, linebacker Ruben Hyppolite II, tight end Joel Wilson, and running back Kyle Monangai.

Johnson praised Robinson’s speed rushing ability and special teams value. The fourth-year player has made 49 tackles in three seasons with the Bears, including eight starts.

Hyppolite II, a rookie linebacker, has improved significantly since being drafted in the fourth round. Johnson notes that Hyppolite is “swimming” but taking it seriously, and is adjusting well to the team’s speed-based scheme.

The two surprise players on offense are Wilson and Monangai. Wilson, a tight end, caught a touchdown pass and made a sensational grab during practice, showcasing his route-running skills. Johnson believes Wilson will be a player to watch in training camp and the preseason.

Monangai, a rookie running back, has stepped up in the running back room with his attention to detail and quick learning. He was named first-team All-Big Ten last year after rushing for 1,279 yards.

These players have caught the coaching staff’s attention, and their development will be crucial for the Bears’ success this season.
