Beavers Smash Seminoles in Omaha

Oregon State baseball continued its postseason push with a dominating 13-3 victory over Florida State on Friday. The Beavers scored seven runs in the first inning, setting a single-game postseason record for home runs with five. Carson McEntire and Canon Reeder hit back-to-back home runs, while Trent Caraway added a grand slam.

The Beavers’ offense was led by Gavin Turley’s 19th home run of the season, as well as Tyce Peterson’s solo shot in the fourth inning. The team’s pitching staff shone, with Zach Kmatz picking up the win and striking out two in relief.

Florida State managed to score six runs after the Beavers’ initial surge, but Nelson Keljo slammed the door on a 3-2 strikeout of Alex Lodise to end the game. Oregon State improved its postseason record to 5-1 and moved to 11-4 under head coach Mitch Canham.

The win marked the team’s fifth in an elimination game this postseason, and it followed a successful home schedule with a 23-4 record. Sunday’s attendance of 4,380 was the 14th game of 4,000 or more this season, and it set a new single-season record for Beaver fans.
