Bed Bath & Beyond, the iconic home goods chain, is making a comeback under new ownership and licensing agreements. The first new store to open since its liquidation in 2023 launched on Friday in Nashville, Tennessee, marking the beginning of dozens more openings to come.
The brand’s intellectual property was acquired by Overstock Inc. in 2023, which later rebranded as Beyond Inc. and licensed the name to The Brand House Collective. This new entity has relaunched Bed Bath & Beyond with a fresh start, introducing a new store concept called Bed Bath & Beyond Home.
CEO Amy Sullivan of The Brand House Collective says the new store marks “a powerful addition to our portfolio” and delivers on the company’s mission to offer great brands at affordable prices for every room. The brand has even reinstated its famous 20% coupon policy, accepting expired coupons from customers who want to use them.
After years of corporate acquisitions and rebranding, Bed Bath & Beyond Home has been in development. The original chain filed for bankruptcy following a series of missteps, but its intellectual property was bought by Overstock.com, which later sold the brand’s assets to Kirkland’s Inc. before being rebranded as The Brand House Collective.
The company plans to convert around 75 existing stores into Bed Bath & Beyond Home stores over the next few years, starting with six planned openings in Nashville and potentially many more nationwide.
While the relaunch is exciting for fans of the legacy brand, it comes at a challenging time for the home decor market. Experts say competition from players like Amazon, Walmart, and Wayfair has made it harder for brands to capture customer spend, and high interest rates have contributed to a soft trend in the sector.
Despite this, Bed Bath & Beyond Home is poised to capitalize on the brand’s iconic status and deliver great products at affordable prices to customers.
