Belgian Authorities Question Israeli Festival Attendees

Two Israeli citizens were briefly detained and questioned by Belgian authorities last week after pro-Palestinian groups accused them of war crimes. The incident involved an electronic music festival, Tomorrowland, in Antwerp.

According to prosecutors, the two Israelis were named in a complaint alleging “serious violations of international humanitarian law” in Gaza. The federal prosecutor’s office took action after concluding that Belgian courts had jurisdiction over alleged war crimes committed abroad.

The suspects are believed to be members of an Israeli military unit involved in fighting in the Palestinian territory. Pro-Palestinian organisation, Hind Rajab Foundation (HRF), identified them among festival-goers waving a flag of the Givati Brigade.

The investigation concluded that the individuals were released following interviews with police. Further information about the case will not be disclosed at this time.
