Belkin has announced that it will stop supporting most of its smart home products, including Wemo devices, effective January 31, 2026. The move will leave users without core functionality and future updates. A total of 27 affected devices, sold between August 2015 and November 2023, will no longer be controllable through the Wemo app.
Users with eligible devices under warranty on or after January 31 may receive a partial refund starting in February. However, security implications for the affected devices cannot be ignored. Users can still use these devices if they configure them with Apple HomeKit before January 31, allowing control without relying on the Wemo app or Belkin’s cloud.
Four Wemo products, including the Smart Light Switch and Smart Plug, will continue to function as they do today through HomeKit, unaffected by the discontinuation. The discontinued devices include smart home products that rely on cloud connectivity for features like remote access, voice assistant integrations, and Away Mode.
