Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham was given a red card after using an English expletive to protest a referee’s decision during Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Osasuna. Coach Carlo Ancelotti defended his player, claiming that the referee made a translation error.
According to Munuera’s report, Bellingham allegedly said “expletive you” to the referee, but Bellingham insists this was not meant to be an insult. The 21-year-old England midfielder claims he has used this expression on the field since he was 16 and maintains his calm demeanor during the confrontation.
The incident occurred in the 40th minute of the game when Bellingham complained about a refereeing decision while gesturing with his arms. This led to Munuera pulling out the red card, meaning Bellingham will miss next round’s game against Girona.
Ancelotti also received a yellow card for complaining about what he thought was a handball by an Osasuna defender in the host’s area that was not punished.
