Beloved Actor Jack Betts Dies at 96

Jack Betts, a talented actor with a career spanning Broadway to spaghetti westerns, has passed away at 96. Born in Jersey City, Betts discovered his passion for acting after watching Laurence Olivier on screen. He made his Broadway debut in “Richard III” and later became known as Hunt Powers in Italian westerns during the 1960s.

Betts returned to Broadway in the late 1970s, playing Dracula from 1977 to 1980. He then transitioned back to TV and film, landing notable roles on popular shows like “Seinfeld,” “Frasier,” and “Friends.” His memorable performance as Henry Balkan in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man in 2002 is also remembered.

Betts shared a close friendship with actress Doris Roberts until her death in 2016. Colleagues at the Beverly Hills Playhouse described their bond as one marked by warmth and mentorship, highlighting Betts’ lasting impact on those who knew him.
