Dan Ziskie, a veteran character actor with a long and storied career in film and television, has passed away at the age of 80. Ziskie died on July 21 in New York due to arteriosclerotic cardiovascular disease.
Born in Detroit on August 13, 1944, Ziskie began his career as a journalist before joining the Second City comedy troupe in Chicago. He later transitioned to acting and appeared in numerous stage productions, including Broadway revivals of “Morning’s at Seven” and “After the Fall.”
Ziskie’s film and TV credits include iconic roles such as NFL Commissioner Paul Tagliabue in “Concussion,” U.S. Senator on CBS’ “Person of Interest,” and the U.S. Attorney General on Fox’s “24.” He also had recurring roles on Netflix’s “House of Cards” and appeared in films like “Zebrahead,” “The Jackal,” and “Eight Below.”
In addition to his acting career, Ziskie was a passionate photographer and published an album titled “Cloud Chamber” in 2017. He enjoyed traveling and exploring complex topics such as the nature of the cosmos and quantum physics.
Ziskie is survived by his brother, David; sister-in-law, Cynthia; and nephews Jesse, Brett, Austin, and their six children.
