Rob Reiner, the acclaimed director behind iconic films like “When Harry Met Sally,” “Stand By Me,” and “The Princess Bride,” has died in an apparent homicide at his Los Angeles home. He was 78 years old and had been married to photographer Michele Singer Reiner for 36 years until her death on Sunday alongside him.
Reiner’s career spanned over four decades, with notable successes including “This Is Spinal Tap,” “Stand By Me,” and “When Harry Met Sally.” A family member is being interviewed by the police in connection with the investigation. The Los Angeles Police Department has confirmed that Reiner died as a result of an apparent knife attack.
Reiner was also a devoted father to their three children, Jake, Nick, and Romy, and had adopted actor Tracy Reiner, the daughter of his first wife Penny Marshall, who passed away in 2018. The director’s production company Castle Rock Entertainment has produced many hit films, including “The Shawshank Redemption” and “Seinfeld.”
Reiner was a prominent figure in the entertainment industry, known for his work as both an actor and director. He also made headlines for his outspoken views on politics, particularly criticizing US President Donald Trump. His death comes as a shock to fans worldwide.
