Beloved Milwaukee Brewers Broadcaster Bob Uecker Passes Away at 90

Legendary broadcaster Bob Uecker, whose iconic voice and humor entertained fans for 54 years, has passed away at the age of 90. A beloved figure in Milwaukee and a national icon, Uecker’s passing leaves a void in the hearts of many.

Uecker, who called games for the Brewers since 1971, was diagnosed with small cell lung cancer in early 2023. His family released a statement saying he loved people and had a way of welcoming everyone into his world as if they were lifelong friends.

Born in Milwaukee, Uecker played minor league baseball before transitioning to broadcasting. He began his career in the late 1960s and became known for his witty commentary and charismatic personality. Uecker’s catchphrase “Get up! Get up!” became a signature part of his broadcasts.

Uecker was also an accomplished entertainer, appearing on numerous TV shows, including “The Tonight Show” and “Saturday Night Live.” He was a key figure in the Miller Lite commercials and appeared in several films and TV shows. Uecker was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 2003 and has won multiple awards for his broadcasting career.

Despite health issues and personal losses, including the deaths of two adult children, Uecker remained committed to philanthropy, supporting numerous charities and organizations over the years.

Uecker’s final appearance at American Family Field came on October 3, where he called the ninth inning of a heartbreaking loss to the New York Mets. He will be remembered for his wit, humor, and dedication to his craft.
