Beloved ‘Sopranos’ Actor Jerry Adler Passes Away at 96

Beloved actor Jerry Adler, known for his iconic role as Herman “Hesh” Rabkin in HBO’s “The Sopranos,” has passed away peacefully in his sleep in New York City. The Brooklyn-born actor was 96 years old.

Born on February 4, 1929, Adler spent most of his life behind the scenes in theater, working as a producer, stage manager, and director before gaining fame in his 60s. He appeared in notable roles such as “The Public Eye” alongside Joe Pesci and had recurring parts in “The Good Wife” and “Rescue Me.”

Adler’s co-star Steven Van Zandt paid tribute to him on social media, saying it was an honor working with him. The creator of “The Good Wife,” Robert King, also remembered Adler fondly, crediting him with bringing humor to the show despite only being meant for a one-episode appearance.

Adler is survived by his four daughters and will be deeply missed by fans of his work.
