Beloved Thriller Author Frederick Forsyth Passes Away at 86

Renowned author Frederick Forsyth, best-known for his thrilling novels including The Day Of The Jackal, has died at the age of 86. Forsyth’s agent, Jonathan Lloyd, said the author’s passing was mourned by the literary world.

Throughout his illustrious career, Forsyth published over 25 books and sold an estimated 75 million copies worldwide. His works, including The Odessa File and The Dogs of War, defined the thriller genre and continue to inspire contemporary writers.

Born in Kent in 1938, Forsyth’s life was marked by both war and journalism. He served as a pilot for the RAF, became a war correspondent for BBC and Reuters, and worked with British intelligence agency MI6 for over 20 years. His experiences would later shape some of his most famous fictional plots.

Forsyth made his literary debut with The Day Of The Jackal in 1971, which was adapted into several films and TV shows. He went on to write numerous bestselling novels, including Revenge of Odessa and The Fourth Protocol.

The author received a CBE for services to literature in 1997 and will be remembered by fans worldwide for his gripping tales of espionage and adventure.
