Ben Shelton Makes History at Wimbledon with Historic Run

Ben Shelton made history at this year’s Wimbledon by becoming the youngest American to make three major fourth-round appearances in a year, defeating Hungarian lucky loser Marton Fucsovics 6-3, 7-6(4), 6-2. The 22-year-old American is on a hot streak, having played well throughout the tournament and secured support from his team, including parents, girlfriend, and sister.

Shelton will face Italian Lorenzo Sonego in the fourth round for the third consecutive major, following a five-hour, four-minute epic against American Brandon Nakashima. Sonego overcame Nakashima to reach the next round after firing 75 winners and rallying from a break down in the fifth set.

Meanwhile, Flavio Cobolli continued his stellar 2025 campaign by defeating Czech Jakub Mensik 6-2, 6-4, 6-2 to reach the fourth round at a major for the first time. The 23-year-old will face former Wimbledon finalist Marin Cilic in the next round.

Cilic backed up his win against fourth seed Jack Draper by defeating Jaume Munar 6-3, 3-6, 6-2, 6-4, advancing to the last 16 for the first time since he reached the title match. The 36-year-old is competing at Wimbledon for the first time since 2021 and firing 49 winners past Munar.
