Bengals Release Veteran Guard Alex Cappa

Cincinnati Bengals veteran guard Alex Cappa has hit the open market ahead of the start of the new league year. The team announced their decision to release him on Monday, creating $8 million in cap space. Cappa had signed a four-year deal with the Bengals in 2022 and appeared in all 50 games for the team, starting at right guard.

However, his tenure was cut short due to an ankle injury suffered during his first season. He did not appear in the team’s only postseason trip during his time with the Bengals. With left guard Cody Ford set to become a free agent in 2025, Cappa’s release may pave the way for new starters at those positions by then.
