Bengals’ Trey Hendrickson Situation Still Unresolved

The Cincinnati Bengals have extended top players Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins, but the team’s efforts to re-sign linebacker Trey Hendrickson remain stalled. Despite allowing Hendrickson to seek a trade, no deal has been reached as the NFL draft approaches.

Executive vice president Katie Blackburn acknowledged that the team is working through the situation, saying it’s a “case-by-case basis” approach. The Bengals made what they consider a competitive offer, but ultimately, Hendrickson must agree to terms.

Hendrickson, a reigning sack leader, has sought long-term big money for several years without success. He has been a Pro Bowl selection each of his four seasons in Cincinnati and has expressed strong interest in remaining with the team. However, it’s unclear whether he will hold out if no agreement can be reached.

Blackburn noted that Hendrickson’s happiness is partly on him to secure, saying “if he’s not happy at some point, that’s what holds it up sometimes.” The Bengals have all the respect for Hendrickson and are willing to find a solution. However, ultimately, it will take time to determine how this situation unfolds.
