BenSmokin BBQ Offers Free Thanksgiving Meals to Community

A Fresno barbecue restaurant, BenSmokin BBQ, is taking a different approach this year for Thanksgiving. Instead of relying on sales, the owner, Bernard Mendoza, has decided to feed hundreds in need.

Mendoza’s inspiration came from his father, who suffered a major stroke and still managed to write. The experience sparked a spiritual calling within Mendoza to help others through food. A viral TikTok announcement drew in local donors, providing food, equipment, and support for the event.

The restaurant will serve free meals from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day to anyone in the community. The menu features traditional dishes like turkey, mashed potatoes, and stuffing. Mendoza wants the event to teach his children about community and giving back, while also providing a positive experience for everyone involved.

With the help of local donors and his staff, Mendoza is preparing to make a significant impact on the community this Thanksgiving.
