Beyoncé’s recent halftime performance during a Christmas Day NFL game in Houston has sparked outrage among fans after she made a banned hand gesture on stage. The 43-year-old singer, known for her elaborate performances, wore a white bodysuit and cowboy hat as she performed alongside Post Malone and Shaboozey.
During one part of the show, Beyoncé was lifted above the field on a platform and made the finger-gun gesture with her left hand while a “BANG” banner appeared below. The National Football League (NFL) bans this gesture, which can result in a 15-yard penalty for offending players.
Viewers took to social media to express their anger over the gesture, asking if Beyoncé would be fined by the NFL. Many were surprised that the league does not take action against her, given Jay-Z’s past involvement with the organization and his own scandalous allegations from 2000.
The NFL partnered with Roc Nation in 2019, and despite controversy surrounding Jay-Z’s rape allegation, the league remains committed to him. Their oldest child, Blue Ivy, who joined Beyoncé on stage, stole the show during her nearly 13-minute performance.
