President Joe Biden is leaving office with dismal job ratings, as voters overwhelmingly criticize his economic policies. A recent Fox News survey shows that 52% of Americans believe the Biden administration has made the economy worse, while only 28% think it’s better. This sentiment is consistent across various demographic groups, including Democrats, independents, and Republicans.
The survey also found that nearly all voters (89%) are concerned about inflation, with some feeling they’re falling behind financially. In fact, 42% of voters believe they’re not getting ahead, while 38% of Democrats specifically feel this way. This increase is attributed to a shift in Democratic opinions since 2021.
Biden’s approval ratings for his economic policies also plummet, with only 13% of voters saying they’re doing well financially and 70% stating the economy is in poor shape. His average job rating for his entire presidency stands at 44% approve vs. 55% disapprove.
Interestingly, views on Biden as a person have shifted since his election, with fewer people having a favorable opinion (40%) compared to those who view him unfavorably (59%). This change contrasts with other former presidents’ ratings at the end of their terms.
The poll highlights Biden’s struggles in making a positive case for his economic policies, even among his own base. As he departs office, it remains to be seen whether history will judge his efforts on the economy differently.
