US President Joe Biden appeared to doze off during a meeting with African leaders in Angola on Wednesday. The incident occurred during a summit discussing the Lobito Trans-Africa Corridor railway, where Biden was hosting Angolan President João Lourenço and representatives from other countries.
According to footage published by British newspaper The Telegraph, Biden briefly closed his eyes for about 80 seconds, resting his face on his hand while a representative talked about Tanzania’s contribution to the project. This was not the first time Biden has spoken about his struggles with international travel; in June, he attributed his lethargic performance during a debate against President-elect Donald Trump to his recent European trips.
The White House confirmed that Biden will commit an additional $560 million in funding for the railway project, bringing the total US investment to over $4 billion.
