Big Hats and Big Intrigue Return in “Another Simple Favor”

Directed by Paul Feig, “Another Simple Favor” is a comedy-crime-mystery-thriller that follows the story of Stephanie Smothers (Anna Kendrick) and her bosom friend Emily Nelson (Blake Lively), who reunite in Italy after a series of events. The sequel to 2018’s hit film “A Simple Favor,” which also starred Kendrick and Lively, promises more of the same blend of wit, style, and intrigue.

The story takes a turn when Stephanie learns that her friend Emily is the assumed identity of Hope, a triplet whose sisters have died under mysterious circumstances. The two women embark on a wild adventure in Italy, where they become embroiled in a complex web of secrets, lies, and murder. Along the way, they encounter a bumbling FBI agent and a fearsome mother-in-law.

While “Another Simple Favor” can’t quite match the level of surprise and originality of its predecessor, it still delivers on charm and wit. The film’s script, written by Jessica Sharzer and Laeta Kalogridis, is engaging and well-crafted, with plenty of twists and turns to keep viewers entertained.

The real stars of the show are Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively, who once again bring their signature blend of humor and style to the screen. The film’s costume designs, hair styling, and production values are also noteworthy, making “Another Simple Favor” a visually stunning and fun watch.

Ultimately, while “Another Simple Favor” may not be as groundbreaking as its predecessor, it remains a delightful and entertaining addition to the series. With its lighthearted tone, witty dialogue, and strong performances from Kendrick and Lively, it’s a two-hour vacation that’s hard to resist.
