Big NFL Snubs: Who Got Left Off the Pro Bowl Roster?

The annual Pro Bowl roster announcements often spark debate about snubs and deserving players left off the list. This year, several notable players were overlooked, including Baker Mayfield, Patrick Mahomes, Jordan Mailata, Kerby Joseph, Kyren Williams, Zach Allen, Brian Thomas Jr., Danielle Hunter, Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Christian Benford, and others.

Mayfield, who has thrown for 39 touchdowns this season with a win away from an NFC South championship, couldn’t crack the top three of NFC quarterbacks in the Pro Bowl vote. Meanwhile, AFC quarterback Patrick Mahomes, despite his team’s perfect record, didn’t receive the same recognition as Joe Burrow, Lamar Jackson, and Josh Allen.

Other notable snubs include Philadelphia OT Jordan Mailata, who missed four games due to injury and allowed just one sack on 213 pass blocking snaps; Detroit Lions S Kerby Joseph, who leads the NFL with nine interceptions and has a coverage EPA of -55.3 per Next Gen Stats; Los Angeles Rams RB Kyren Williams, who was a true workhorse for his team but wasn’t included in the roster; Denver Broncos DL Zach Allen, who has 8.5 sacks and led all interior linemen with 65 quarterback pressures; Jacksonville Jaguars WR Brian Thomas Jr., who had better numbers than Cleveland’s Jerry Jeudy and Baltimore’s Zay Flowers despite being snubbed; Houston Texans DE Danielle Hunter, who had a great season with 12 sacks and leads the NFL in pass rush win rate; and Seattle Seahawks WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba, who had a breakout season but fell just short of the NFC Pro Bowl roster.

These players are among several who should feel slighted by the Pro Bowl voting process. While there’s no single reason for their snubs, it’s clear that these talented individuals deserve recognition for their outstanding performances this season.
