Phoebe Gates, 22, daughter of Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates, shared an embarrassing story about meeting potential suitors to her dad at a recent episode of the podcast Call Her Daddy. According to Phoebe, introducing guys to her father is daunting for them due to his social awkwardness. The experience left one high school date “literally wanting to die” after her dad called him by the wrong name and made them listen to NPR during a 30-minute drive.
However, Phoebe believes that meeting people who can handle her father’s quirky behavior is key to determining if they’re compatible with her. She described herself as a “people person,” unlike her father, who she jokingly refers to as very competitive in their board game battles.
Phoebe recently opened up about her nearly two-year relationship with Arthur Donald, 26, grandson of music legend Paul McCartney. The couple met through Phoebe’s collaboration with designer Stella McCartney, Donald’s aunt. Despite living in California, he visits New York City on weekends to be with Phoebe.
