Bill Maher Weighs Quitting HBO Over Trump’s Presidency

Comedian and “Real Time” host Bill Maher expressed exhaustion with covering the next four years of Donald Trump’s administration, prompting speculation that he may quit his job on the show. During an episode of his podcast “Club Random,” Maher told actress and activist Jane Fonda that he might leave HBO due to Trump’s presidency.

Maher stated that he had already done all the necessary work covering Trump during the 2016 campaign and had called him a con man before anyone else. However, he said that Trump’s hostility towards him is still present, with Trump tweeting about Maher every week and calling his show “Low Rated Bill Maher.”

Despite being contracted for two more seasons through 2026, Maher seemed to be considering leaving the show due to the prospect of covering a possible Trump presidency. However, HBO has already renewed “Real Time” for additional years.

It remains unclear whether Maher will ultimately follow through on his threat or remain on the show. One thing is certain, however, that Maher’s commentary and criticism of politicians have made him a national treasure in recent years.
